Music
“Music is a fair and glorious gift of God.”
MARTIN LUTHER
Music is central to worship at Gloria Dei.
First and foremost is congregational singing of the liturgy and hymns. Additionally, we have a wonderful pipe organ and make regular use of strings, brass, woodwinds and percussion. We use the best music of the western catholic tradition, with particular emphasis on our Lutheran heritage as we seek to faithfully praise God and proclaim the Gospel. You are invited to give a gift of time and service and be part of the musical life of Gloria Dei:
Jubilate Youth Bells (Middle High and High School Students) Rehearsals: Wednesdays, 6:00-6:30pm
Gloria Dei Ringers (Adult Bell Choir)
Rehearsals: Wednesdays, 6:30-7:15pm
Parish Choir (High School through adults)
Rehearsals: Wednesdays, 7:15 -8:15pm
Liturgical Dance
Rehearsals: as announced. The Liturgical Dance group dances four or five times a year at major Sundays/Festivals. Open to upper elementary-age girls through adult women (no upper age limit). Previous dance experience is not a requirement to participate.
Assisting Cantors assist the Director of Music in singing the Psalm verses and other parts of the liturgy at the Sunday Eucharist.
Instrumentalists are invited to play preludes and offertories throughout the year. Many of the choir anthems have parts for brass, woodwinds, strings, and percussion.
