Serving

Gloria Dei members engage in many service opportunities within our community, and outside our local area.  Our Social Ministry/Outreach committee is very active and has one of our congregation’s larger programming budgets.  During the past year, we have given monetary gifts to approximately 40 organizations.  Service to God and service to our neighbor is integral to our faith.

Service opportunities to our community and neighbors include:

  • Preparing and serving breakfast at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church

  • Preparing lunches for Saturday Sack Lunches at St. John’s Episcopal Church

  • Gathering personal hygiene items and packing them for Partners for Wichita

  • Collecting food and clothing for Open Door

  • Participating in CropWalk

  • Making quilts for Lutheran World Relief and The Orphan Grain Train

  • Collecting money and household items for refugees in Wichita and given to the  International Rescue Committee

  • Collecting money for victims of natural disasters and given to Lutheran World Relief and Lutheran Disaster Relief

  • Collecting money for various local charities such as Union Rescue Mission, Open Door, Wichita Children’s Home, Carpenter Place, Love in Action, Family Promise, and several other local charities

  • Providing fellowship and care for our members

  • Ministry to homebound members
